The images of violence are constant. Scenes of gun violence are now expected in our neighborhoods and churches. Hate in the form of racism is continually ringing in our ears. As a community, however, we can heal from those images, eliminate those scenes of violence and honestly call out racism – if we respond with urgency, take the time to recover and find opportunity to redefine the sources of this trauma. The goal of the IMPACT (Intentional Mending Police And Community) seminar is to bring law-enforcement and the community together. We want the youth and young adults to be knowledgeable about their rights and the rights of law enforcement. We want to bring about change and that only happens when we come together and learning takes place.
